The AMBEO Orbit plugin is available in AAX, VST, VST3 and AU format for both Mac and Windows. Sennheiser just released a free binaural panner plugin designed for mixing sound in a 3D space. This plugin is straightforward to use with a clean interface and simple controls. The idea is to place sounds within a 3D field of space without losing any quality in the overall sound, and AMBEO accomplishes this quite gracefully. This tool is specially designed to work with your surround sound. To me, Virtual Audio sounds like a modern day Binaural Panning VST. Depending on the algorithm, these VST's can sound VERY convincing. However, to me, nothing beats a true binaural recording from a dummy head. AMBEO Orbit is a free binaural panning plugin designed by Sennheiser to facilitate mixing immersive binaural content. The plugin offers flexible and intuitive control over the positioning of mono and stereo sources in the 3D sound field by allowing you to place your sounds from left to right, front to back (Azimuth) as well as from top to bottom (Elevation). Far from a simple panning plugin, this VST/AU stereo toolkit from Auburn Sounds helps you to dial in width, depth and psychoacoustic space to any sound. And what's more, it's free for readers of Computer Music issue 238! Panagement CM is a sophisticated tool based on psychoacoustic principles - ie, the knowledge of how we hear and perceive sounds.
3-D Binaural Spatializer
Binaural Panning Vst Torrent
The 3-D Binaural Spatializer is a VST plugin for Windows and Mac that gives the listener the illusion that the sound sources are actually in 3-dimensional space. It uses head related transfer functions to process the audio, allowing the user to choose an angle in the horizontal plane between 0° and 360°. There are instructions and other info in the README file. Also, this effect only works with headphones.
Note: The beta version of Audacity is supposed to support VST plugins, but I’ve been having trouble getting this to work properly inside Audacity. It should work fine in most other DAWs.

You can use envelopes to control the angle, just like with volume or panning.
(these plugins were released in 2011 when I was a student, and haven’t been updated since then)
